What Does It Cost For a Male Fertility Evaluation?

Most infertility in men is caused by the production of too few sperm, none at all, and/or the inability of sperm to reach and fertilize the egg after ejaculation during intercourse.

The Cost of Male Fertility Evaluations

A thorough male fertility evaluation will entail a semen analysis to determine total motile spermatozoa – the combined analysis of how many sperm cells are motile within one ejaculation. This entails a determination of sperm count, sperm motility, and sperm volume.

Semen Analysis – $150

A semen analysis is performed through testing in Kofinas Fertility Institute’s on-site state-of-the-art Andrology laboratory at a cost of $150.

The semen sample can be produced in the patient’s home or in the doctor’s office.

The semen sample will be analyzed for the amount and viability of the sperm found in the specimen.

A second semen analysis may be performed in order to determine a correct diagnosis and direction for treatment.

An abnormal semen test result is suggestive of the likelihood that achieving pregnancy without medical treatment is statistically low. This is a crucial test because both concentration and motility of sperm are required for fertility.

Sperm DNA Fragmentation Test $200

A sperm DNA fragmentation test – for a cost of $200 at Kofinas Fertility Institute’s Andrology laboratory – can determine if there may be DNA-related damage (fragmentation) in sperm that could make it difficult to conceive. The individual cells of the sperm will be examined for the percentage of cells that are damaged.

15 percent damage = very good chance of pregnancy

16 to 29 percent damage = pregnancy still very likely

30 percent or more damage = achieving and maintaining a healthy pregnancy unlikely

Even if a semen analysis results as normal, there can still be some DNA damage to sperm that accounts for the underlying reason of male infertility.

Sperm Washing for IUI and IVF $250

Sperm washing is a preparation procedure of semen prior to IUI and IVF in order to remove chemicals from the semen that could be the cause of an adverse reaction of the sperm within the uterus. Sperm is separated from seminal fluid during the sperm washing process and this procedure improves the capacity of the sperm to fertilize the egg.

The sperm washing procedure is recommended by Dr. George Kofinasa pioneering doctor of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) – who has successfully diagnosed and treated thousands of cases of male infertility.

Formulation of a Treatment Plan for Male Infertility

A finding of an abnormal semen specimen through testing and analysis by a doctor specializing in male infertility treatment will be followed up with further testing and analysis in order to diagnose the cause of the male’s infertility and to formulate a treatment plan that will resolve the male’s infertility factor.

Dr. George Kofinas – a specialist in the practice of ART for over 30 years – will guide you in your understanding of:
